Zo Fair (Aadi Bazar)

On 13 July 2026, Hon'ble Chief Minister of Mizoram, Pu Lalduhoma, inaugurated the week-long Zo Fair (Aadi Bazaar) at Dawrpui Multipurpose Hall, Aizawl, Mizoram. The fair is jointly organised by Tribal Cooperative Marketing Development Federation of India (TRIFED), Ministry of Tribal Affairs, Government of India, and Cooperation Department, Government of Mizoram. The fair showcases traditional handicrafts, handloom products, bamboo crafts, paintings, tribal food and other indigenous products from various North Eastern States and Mizoram through 25 stalls, promoting direct marketing between artisans and consumers. Addressing the gathering, the Chief Minister highlighted the importance of preserving traditional crafts as symbols of the history, identity, and cultural heritage of the people. He encouraged artisans to continue practising their traditional skills, noting the growing demand for indigenous products beyond their local communities. He also appreciated the efforts of the Ministry of Tribal Affairs, TRIFED, and the Cooperation Department in promoting tribal and forest-based products. Prof. Lalnilawma, Minister for Rural Development & Administration, emphasised the role of the cooperative movement in achieving prosperity and the vision of Viksit Mizoram 2047 through self-reliant villages. Pu PS Thuingaleng, IRS, Regional Manager (North East), TRIFED, commended the performance of Mizoram's Van Dhan Vikas Kendras while stressing the need for improved product packaging to enhance marketability. The inaugural function was chaired by Pu Udit Prakash Rai, IAS, Commissioner & Secretary, Cooperation Department, while the vote of thanks was delivered by Pu John LT Sanga, Registrar of Cooperative Societies.
